Love and Power come together in this evening session with Dr. Deborah Egerton!
We are honored to welcome Dr. Deborah Egerton to speak for us this February. Dr. E is one of the foremost Enneagram thought leaders in the world today, author of Know Justice, Know Peace, and currently serves as President of IEA Global. She will be speaking for us on a topic which she has studied in depth: love, connection, and cultivating authentic relationships with the Enneagram.
When it comes to using the Enneagram in relationships, one of the biggest mistakes we make is putting the expectation on the other person. It’s understandable–when we encounter the Enneagram, it’s normal to find it incredibly helpful and we immediately want to share it with our loved ones, and have them find their Type so they understand themselves better, and we want to share our Type with them so they understand us better… but in our enthusiasm we often miss the point, which is that we need to connect with our own authentic self before we do anything else.
Because we cannot be in an authentic relationship with someone else if we haven’t first established an authentic relationship with ourselves. If we haven’t taken the time to find out who we truly are, it is not possible to truly see who someone else is! We will be too preoccupied with trying to promote and defend our own self-concept, unaware of how
The Enneagram can support us in developing an authentic relationship with ourselves because it shows us exactly what we are doing instead–identifying with a self-image instead of who we truly are, and then spending most of our energy defending and promoting that self-image instead of living our truth.
In this session on February 12th, Dr. E will focus on how we can use the Enneagram to truly liberate ourselves from the false self–drawing on each of the nine energies as they exist within us–and from that grounded place, learn to cultivate truly authentic and generative relationships with each other.
She will cover topics including the wings, the stress point, and the growth paths for each Type, and how to apply them to our relationships with our loved ones, our peers, and ourselves. Dr. E’s vision for the Enneagram is for it to unite power WITH love in a way enables us to actually become allies and advocates, and to work together in creative and effective ways. Where we are able to respond to social ills from a place of presence, rather than reacting from a place of automaticity.
We hope you will join us!
