Human Higher Potential in Relationships (Gurdjieff and Sufi Teachings)

What would our human relationships look like if we were to approach those in our lives from a higher state of being—from our Essence?

Most of the time, we tend to relate to each other from the ego. We are preoccupied with our stories, our needs, and our projections onto the other person. We do not truly relate as human beings.

Fortunately, the Enneagram offers great support for bringing more consciousness to our human relationships. If we were to relate from an Essential Place even a little more than we currently do, it could completely change our experience of relationship. We could catch a glimpse of the miraculous mystery that occurs when two people come together.

Dina ElBadry is an expert in the spiritual truths underpinning the Enneagram, especially teachings from Gurdjieff and the Sufis. She will be sharing her expertise and experience with us on March 22nd, to continue our yearly theme of the Enneagram & Relationships. We hope you will join us!

From our presenter:

“When I first learned the Enneagram I was rather disappointed by my type, even more disappointed to know that it doesn’t change.

But when I started studying Gurdjieff, I was so fascinated by the concept of Essence. I found a lot of inspiration in realizing that the personality isn’t Humanity’s only option, and that the human can be so much more.

The Sufi tradition teaches the same thing. In this presentation I aim to correlate The Gurdjieffian & Sufi teachings about the The Full Potential of the Human Being, which Gurdjieff referred to as “Man Becoming Immortal,” and referred to by the Sufis as “Al-Insan Al-Kamil.”
