"Most people do not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply." — Stephen R. Covey
“Listening is being able to be changed by the other person.” – Alan Alda
In a time of great division and polarizing communication, Reverend Nhien Vuong, J.D., M.Div., draws from her training and experience as a professional mediator, pastoral counselor, and contemplative Enneagram professional to bear on the topic of how we can listen more deeply around differences–especially differences among Enneagram Types. Expect this 2-hour special Saturday workshop to be interactive, grounding, and illuminating!
Nhien is an international Enneagram presenter and the founder of Evolving Enneagram, a community-centered organization whose mission is to transform human ecosystems around the globe using a contemplative approach to the Enneagram. A former Stanford-trained attorney/mediator, Nhien left her legal practice in San Francisco to follow a call to ministry. As an ordained Unity minister, Nhien marries intellectual rigor with a heart for a more collaborative, compassionate world. Nhien regularly offers scholarships for Evolving Enneagram’s transformational programs and donates her time to various non-profits and the incarcerated. Her extensive experience in pastoral care, community building, and conflict resolution help to foster a world where everyone belongs. Nhien is currently authoring a book called “The Enneagram of Soul,” which is scheduled for publication in March 2025 by Hampton Roads.
In this Chapter Meeting on February 10, Nhien will explore Type-related barriers to effective listening and share insights and grounding practices to support us all in offsetting our own biases and reactivity.
